Tall Toad Hats

One of the funnest things to do is play with hats.
Tall Toad's motto is "Headgear for the upwardly Noble" Ha, gotta love someone with a sense of humor.

Really, I didn't wear hats at all until I went into their booth. And then, I think I wanted one of everything! They have lots of 'court ladies' style hats - with big flowing veils and pointed hats. The young girls really like those conical hats that seem to be a stereotype of the ages.

I have a couple beret type flat caps, they work well with feathers. You can also get hand-crotchetted snoods to wear with or without the caps.

Another favorite is the Pirate Hat - you can get these in almost any color - and from plain to fancy. And you should check out their cool "Uncle Sam" tall hat

Great merchant list

Check this list out,

You'll find more information there about Tall Toad hats, Crafty Celts Jewelry and Half Moon Cloaks & Capes.

I have a couple Half Moon pieces. Actually, two for Renaissance wear, and one that I wear as my winter jacket. That would be the Talon. It is a fabulous jacket for a woman, and it puts the curves in all the right places. It's flattering on almost any kind of figure. They've also got a new womens cloat called a 'Kyrie' that is fitted close in the waist and has almost a colonial look to the sleaves. The woman who designs this stuff is awesome!

Favorite Maryland Ren Fair Merchants

've been hanging out at Ren Faires for a while now. I've got some really nice garb, but there are some merchants that are, well, just special. They have some really unique stuff, and most of it is available on the internet. You don't have to go to the Fair to purchase it.

So, Check out these merchants below - see if you don't agree with me about their fabulous stuff.

You can find people wearing medieval or renaissance garb not just at the fair. There are SCA events (medieval reinactors) LARP, which is Live Action Role Playing (like real life dungeons & dragons). Many towns now support a 'jousting' dinner theater. Try showing up in garb for a hoot!

Many of the mechants sell items that can be worn absolutely anywear. Jewelry - well it works with anything. Cloaks and capes might seem a bit out out style - but try wearing a full length cloak to the opera! You'll be a hit!
